Chad Zimmerman was elected to the Villa Park City Council in 2018 and currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem.
Chad Zimmerman has lived in Villa Park for 11 years with his wife Margaret and their two kids, William and Alyssa, who attend Villa Park High School and Cerro Villa Middle School. Margaret is a Pediatrician with MemorialCare Medical Group in Fountain Valley and a member of the Villa Park Women’s League. Margaret has been coach for their kids’ soccer teams and enjoys doing Ultimate Kenpo ("Ultimate" Kenpo is a blended style that takes the "best of the best" from Karate, Kung Fu and Jiu Jitsu – Margaret is a 3rd degree Black Belt).
Chad Zimmerman began working with technology at an early age, learning to program Apple II computers in 2nd grade and then teaching the younger kids as a 5th grader. In his first job out of college, Chad was able to put advanced math and computer programming skills to use developing radar verification software that would identify targets for the military. Chad spent 12 years developing software for complicated systems in the defense and telecom industries before changing paths to work with hardware. Chad worked on data center design, systems integration, and eventually in all areas of Information Technology while at Freemont Investment & Loan, where he was responsible for Directing all Operations and Technology. When Freemont was impacted during the subprime crisis in 2008, Chad was put in charge of multiple asset splits that divided the company, eventually seeing a company of 4000+ employees reduced to just a few dozen when he left. All of Chad’s experience in hardware and software were put to the test at his current company, Verdant Services, Inc. Chad was one of the core founding members of the company, investing his own money in the promise of a startup that would create a cloud hosting business and support software for Fortune 500 companies. Eight years later, the company is going strong and staying on the forefront of current cloud and software practices.
Chad has been an enthusiastic community volunteer around Villa Park, originally getting involved with Villa Park’s Cub Scout Pack 850, where he became the CubMaster for the Pack. He was also Chief for his daughter’s Indian Princess Tribe. Chad joined the Rotary Club of Villa Park and was President of the club from 2017-2018. This year in Rotary, Chad is Chair of the Vocational Avenue of Service, and also a member of the Villa Park Rotary Endowment Board. Chad was also honored to be Principal for the day at Serrano Elementary School this year. The Zimmermans have participated in the Villa Park Marine Thanksgiving for four years with Chad serving as a Limo Captain.
Chad holds a Bachelor’s of Engineering Degree in Computer Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
