General Plan
Update
The
City of Villa Park is completing a comprehensive
update of its General Plan. The General Plan Update is an exciting process that will examine how we will shape Villa Park's growth and change over the next 10 to 20 years.
Villa
Parks General Plan is broken down into eight Elements: Land Use, Circulation,
Housing, Open Space & Conservation, Seismic & Safety, Noise,
Growth Management, and Recycling. Each element will be evaluated for
applicability with current practice and any anticipated growth and consistency
with dependent elements. All General Plan support documents will also
be updated at this time. Much of the update tasks will be the responsibility
of city staff; however, certain tasks will require the assistance of
professional consultant services, such as the updating of noise and
traffic studies.
It
is anticipated that the General Plan update process will take approximately
18 months to complete, with the Housing element required to be completed
and provided to the State by June of 2008. The initial 10-12 months
will be primarily devoted to the development of the General Plan and
the final 6-8 months will be allowed for the necessary environmental
reviews and approval.

Citizens Advisory Committee
A Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) has been established by the City Council. The CAC is an advisory group that will meet at project milestones
during the concept and design phases of the General Plan Update project
process to discuss goals, objectives, policies and implementation programs.
These meetings will allow members to discuss project alternatives as
suggested by staff and broaden participation in project decision-making
where applicable. Ultimately the City Council will consider a General
Plan update that contains input from the CAC.
The City Council appointed Pamela Dunn, Kellie Ann Moore, Robert Frackelton, Ed Yoder, and Connie Townsend to the CAC. These CAC
members serve at the pleasure of the City Council and receive no
compensation.
