Councilwoman Crystal Miles was elected to the Villa Park City Council in 2018. She was elected again in 2022. She served as Mayor in 2021.
Crystal is an active volunteer who has served the Villa Park community in various positions, such as Co-Player agent for Villa Park Little League for the past eight years and Governance Chair for the past three years for the Villa Park Community Services Department (VPCSF).
While Crystal’s children currently attend Villa Park High School, prior to that her children attended St. John’s Lutheran School in Orange and Fairmont Private School, where she served as President for the Fairmont Parent Association and served on the executive board for 5 years. During her tenure at Fairmont Private School Crystal not only raised funds from events such as joint campus golf tournaments, joint galas and schoolwide fundraisers but she also ran monthly meetings and coordinated between the administration for Fairmont School and the Fairmont Parent community.
While serving as Governance Chair for the VPCSF, she oversaw the establishment of policies, and continuous monitoring of their proper implementation, by the members of the governing body of the organization for the past three years.
Crystal has two boys ages 18 and 15 with her husband, Kirk. Crystal and Kirk moved into Villa Park in May of 2004, 6 months before the birth of their first son Mason. Having grown up in Fullerton, attending Troy High School, Crystal dreamed of one day moving into the Villa Park Community. They chose Villa Park for the large lot size, the close-knit community, and the proximity to their business in Orange. It was a perfect fit.
While in Graduate School at Cal State University Fullerton (CSUF), Crystal taught Human Anatomy and Microbiology at CSUF as well as redesigned the science curriculum for Carden Private School in Whittier. Crystal taught science to the 2nd-8th grade students at Carden Private School while in Graduate School.
Crystal holds a B.A. in Biology and pursued graduate studies in Tumor Immunology and worked in San Diego before returning to Orange County. While in San Diego, Crystal worked at Johnson & Johnson where she participated in various research studies’ clinical trials for such cancers as end-stage melanoma, and breast and ovarian cancers. Crystal left San Diego and started working for Nichols Institute in San Clemente where she was an Associate Scientist in R&D.
After the birth of Mason, they decided Crystal would stay home to raise their family. Once Zachary was born and both children were in school full time, Crystal started helping Kirk with their business. Today Crystal over sees HR functions as well as the Accounting functions for their business, United Industries.
When not working at United Industries or at the boy’s baseball games, Crystal and Kirk enjoy traveling abroad or just escaping to their home in Lake Havasu City, Az, where the boys have various activities such as water skiing, jet skiing and boating in the summer and riding their Polaris’ in the winter.
